What are the different notes in a scent?
The scent of a perfume changes and transforms as the olfactory molecules evaporate.
Perfumes have 3 different notes: top note, heart note and base note.
Top note: Rosemary, Pine
The first scent of a perfume after it has been sprayed is its top note. This remains on the skin or clothing for several hours.
Heart note: Red Cedar, Sage, Lavender
Next comes the heart note, which lasts from 2 to 4 hours after spraying. It generally awakens richer and more harmonious notes.
Base note: Australian Sandalwood, Thyme, Petitgrain Citronnier
Finally, the base note will stay with you for up to several days. This is what makes a perfume memorable.
